Palestino Soccer Team infuriates Chile’s Jews

Chile’s Jewish community outraged over Palestinian soccer team’s jerseys

Many in Chile’s Jewish community are outraged over a Palestinian soccer club’s jersey that depicts all of Israel as Palestinian land.

Club Deportivo Palestino of Chile released its new jersey that includes the number “1” in the shape of Israel and the Palestinian territories, implying all of the land is Palestinian, The Associated Press reported.

The president of Chile’s Jewish Community, Gerardo Gorodischer, is demanding an apology from the club and asking Chile’s soccer association to pull the jerseys.

Some of this reaches the absurd.

The ultimate answer to the Mideast may be to relocate the Palestinians out of the contested areas. I know that sounds awful; but the destruction of Israel would be worse.

I am not some heartless person. The Palestinians in the Mideast are besieged by both the Israelis and the Palestinian’s fellow Arabs. This abuse has driven the Palestinians nuttier and more violent than they were to begin with.

I am NOT going to diminish the Palestinian’s violence, nor the abuses the Palestinians are forced live under – whether under Israel’s harsh military control, or the even harsher Arab rule in Syria, Lebanon, Eygpt, etc.

However, there are 22 Arab states. Should Israel be destroyed to create a 23rd Arab state?!

I think not!

Compensated relocation of the Palestinians to elsewhere – as bad as that sounds – may be the only solution left, outside of eventual nuclear war.

There are no happy endings in the Mideast.

Diego Maradona Is a Dancing Sheikh

Argentine former soccer star, Diego Maradona, is now living in Dubai. He was the manager of Al Wasi (Dubai) Soccer Club for a year. He got fired as manager, but the Dubai Sports Council kept him on as a Sports Ambassador.

Argentina’s Diego Maradona is arguably one of the two greatest soccer players in history (the other being Brazil’s Pelé); and a hero all over Latin America. He has become enchanted with the Palestinian cause. In the video above, he was dancing with some Arabs. The press started referring to him as a Sheikh, and the video above has gone viral.

Football legend Maradona to remain in Dubai as ambassador

Diego Maradona is set to extend his role as an ambassador to raise the sporting profile of Dubai.

The Argentine great, who was fired as coach of the Dubai-based club Al Wasl after only one season, has spent the past year traveling the globe as an ambassador for the Dubai Sports Council. The council announced Monday that it would extend his contract and plans to announce further details on Tuesday.

From 2011 – Deigo Maradona

The video below shows the one of the goals which made Maradona famous and which brought victory to Argentina over England – in the 1986 World Cup games. Remember, this was just after the Falkland War. The Argentines hated England.

The other famous goal in that game was the infamous “Hand of God,” maneuver, also by Maradona.

Maradonas support for Palestine has influence.

I am not saying this is good or bad; I am saying it is noteworthy. In countries that are not military powers – which is most of the world – soccer substitutes for war, as a focus of national pride. Latin Americans wage soccer, not war.

What Maradona thinks has more clout than most Americans can imagine. There is a growing Latin-American connection with the Arabs in Sport.

Felipe Nuñez, goalkeeper and current captain for the Chilean fútbol team ‘Club Deportivo Palestino’, toured Aida Refugee Camp in Bethlehem with representatives from the Aida Center Monday.

Nuñez, 34, toured the camp with Marwan Farajeh of the Aida Center and Holy Land Trust, who spoke about the situation of Aida and many of the events that have occurred in the camp both recently and in the past. Touring with them were Nuñez’s wife, Jennifer, journalist Rodrigo Eyzaguirre, and a Spanish-Arabic translator.

Nuñez said this is his first time in Palestine, as it is difficult to travel here from Chile, because of the high cost and long distance.

He said, “I came to the camp to understand the reality of the situation and daily lives of the people here.”

This is a few days old, but still timely. Felipe Núñez is a major star in Chile.

Chile’s Soccer Team C.D. Palestino (Palestinian Sports Club) is now a political force in both Chile, and the contested areas.
