No politician in the United States could get away with the anti-Israel rhetoric which is common in Chile. This video from the World Jewish Congress shows you how strongly anti-Israel the politics are in Chile.
This is what happens when one of Chile’s wealthiest elite groups is Palestinian Chilean. In Chile, the Jews are outnumbers 30 to 1 by Palestinian Christians.
The video does have an auto translate option under settings, though it is hard to set properly.
This a short intro to the La Cisterna (a suburb of Santiago) Municipal Stadium in Chile. As one notices, the stadium is bedecked with the effects of Palestinian resistance: Palestinian flags, Palestinian colors, a painting of Palestinians in keffiyahs, and a map of Palestine that excludes Israel.
As noted many times, though the Palestinians of Chile are 99% Christian, they have identified with the Palestinian cause in the Mideast, even though that cause has an Islamist flavor.
They seem to have forgotten that their ancestors fled the Holy Land because of Islamic oppression.
But they are a force in sports in Chile – They have a rivalry with the University of Chile. They are a second national team to the Palestinians in the Holy Land. They have even signed up a Muslim player from the Palestinian territories. And, by dint of their fame and devotion, CD Palestino has become a political force as well.
It is a rather strange arrangement. Sports in America tends to be apolitical. Not so in Chile, nor the Mideast.
Under Hugo Chavez, Venezuela became allied with Iran. Chavez set up a television network, centered in Venezuela, called TeleSur, which was pro-Iranian, and anti-Zionist. But, as you see, the alliance may go deeper.
Arab-Venezuelans are roughly 6% of Venezuela – however almost all of Arab-Venezuelans are Christian. Though Muslims like to exaggerate, there are only 100,000 Muslims in Venezuela, out of a total population of 32 Million in Venezuela.
The figures for Muslims correspond to 6% of local Arabs, or 0.3% of the total population of the whole country. A very small number.
And remember, that Muslims tend to exaggerate their numbers!
Why Chavez, and his successor, Maduro, have taken Venezuela down this path is beyond belief.
One should not assume that South America is in danger. The real religious tidal wave in Latin Americas are the tens of millions converting to Evangelical Protestantism.
A few converts to Islam make the headlines, but are statistically insignificant. However, small though they are, they can make trouble.
