Chilean Soccer (Futbol) Team Installs Palestinian Colored Seats

This is a bit hard to explain to my fellow Americans.

But in Chile, there is a soccer (futbol) team with the name of Palestinian (Palestino). It fans glory in the Palestinian cause.

They announced on Twitter today, that their home stadium (La Cisterna) has installed new seats, which are red, white, and green.

Red, white, and green are the colors of CD Palestino (Palestinian Sport Club), but the colors are derived from the red, white, green, and black which were the colors of the Arab Revolt against the Turks, and which morphed into the Palestinian flag.

So this soccer team in Chile is celebrating 2,350 new seats which are in three of the four colors of the Palestinian Flag.

A Massive Cleanup

Been doing a lot of cleanup.

The site is now into its eighth year, and I wanted to get rid of some old dead links while fixing others.

As a lot of old posts were trashed, the numbering on the Dancer of the Day posts has some skips.

Added some new posts as well. This is still a very fascinating subject.

As this website has explained many times, the Palestinian Community of Chile [Chilestinians¹] has been an incredibly powerful block in Chile, working for anti-Israel and pro-Palestinian legislation.

Though 99% Christian, the Chilestinian¹ community supports agendas that seem parallel with the Islamic movement of Hamas.

This astounds many observers: Why would a Christian community support the political agenda of Islamicists? But apparently, the Chilestinians are more anti-Israel than pro-Christian.

¹The Palestinian-Chilean community has adopted the term “Chilestinian” – or “Chilestino” in Spanish – to indicate their indicate their identification with both Chile and Palestine as a fusion.

The Chilestinian community punches well above its weight in Chilean politics, and has a massive influence on Chile. They have hamstrung much of Chile’s policies – not all – regarding Israel and Palestine.
