No politician in the United States could get away with the anti-Israel rhetoric which is common in Chile. This video from the World Jewish Congress shows you how strongly anti-Israel the politics are in Chile.
This is what happens when one of Chile’s wealthiest elite groups is Palestinian Chilean. In Chile, the Jews are outnumbers 30 to 1 by Palestinian Christians.

This is from Argentina, by a cultural group opposed to the upcoming annexation of Palestinian territories.
Unlike Chile, Argentina has a formidable Jewish community. Also Argentina’s Arab community is heavily tilted towards Maronite Christians who, because of their history, are often not anti-Israel.
Maronite Christians were severely persecuted by Muslims in the Middle East – almost genocided in the 19th century. In the 20th century, Palestinians tried to overthrow the Lebanese state. So the Arabs in Argentina will be far less enthusiastic about the Palestinian cause.
So, while some in Argentina may be anti-Israel, the power of the Palestinian cause is far weaker than in Chile where Palestinian-Chileans are the dominant Arab ethnic group.

As noted elsewhere on this site, the Federación Palestina de Chile (Palestinian Federation of Chile) is very powerful — analagous to AIPAC in the United States. This is one of their newer videos, happily, it is translated into English, as my Spanish is abysmal.
Chile’s Palestinians are mostly Christian (Eastern Christian or Roman Catholic), but they are decidedly anti-Israel.
This should not be ignored. They are a wealthy elite in Chile, one of Latin America’s premier countries, which happens to be borderline first world. They have the clout to swing a lot of public opinion, if left unchecked.

Brazil has a massive Arab community, probably as much as 15 million. Luckily for Brazil, their Arabs are heavily Maronite Christian, who tend to be moderate – unlike Chile, whose Arabs are anti-Zionist Palestinians.
However, Brazil also has an incredibly large Evangelical Christian community, which is decidedly pro-Israel. At this time, the Evangelicals have the ascendancy.

This distinguishes Brazil from most of Latin America, indeed, most of the world.
