Chile is the country on the Southwest Pacific coast of South America, which runs from a polar south to tropical north. 5% of Chile’s population is Arab, and the majority of that is Palestinian-Christian: Chilestino/Chilestinian.
Chile is a first world country now, very democratic. The Chilestinos are prosperous and wield incredible political power.
Barrio Patronato (Patronato Neighborhood) is an upscale, historic Arab/Palestinian neighborhood in Chile’s Capital, Santiago.

The Palestinians have major clout in Chile in economics, foreign policy, politics, culture, and cuisine.
The Mayor of Beit Jala, an Christian Arab town in Judea and Samaria visited Chile.

It is in Spanish. Actually , the Mayor of Beit Jala noted there were 400,000 Palestinians in Chile. That number is low. If one counts mixed marriages the numbers are higher.
There is something to this story that most people will not notice.

The letter, which was distributed by the Palestinian Embassy in Santiago, Chile, a day after the cabinet’s decision on the prisoner release, claimed that Israel is the one terrorizing the Palestinians, and not vice-versa. “A terrorist is someone who forcefully occupies the other’s land, expels him and comes to live in his place,” the letter read, “…not the Palestinian political prisoner, the freedom fighter.”

Chile’s Palestinians are very radicalized!
From November 2012, during the Israeli attack on Gaza.
Chile has most of the world’s Palestinian Christians; and has the most Palestinians outside the Mideast.
So it is no accident that pro-Palestinian activism is so prominent in Chile.
Yes, the letter was sent all over the world, but it figured prominently in Chile.
Israel is going to have to keep a sharp eye on Chile’s internal politics which are greatly influenced by its Palestinians.

A group of Christians from the city of Nazareth in Galilee, has broken ranks with the rest of the Arab minority and has joined itself politically to encourage integratin in Israeli society and to be loyal to the state of Israel.
This is a major story.
The Palestinians of Chile (who are 99% Christian) are anti-Israel, as a rule, but now they are faced with the fact that the Christians of Israel are becoming anti-Islam.
The Palestinians of Chile will have to decide if whether their Christian or Arab identity if more important to them.
Israel should act now to use this opportunity to make friends in the South America. There are 25 Million Arab-Christian in South America. Israel should not ignore this.
