Apparently, this is a new establishment. Their site (Click Here) is still under construction.

It seems to be built like a mosque. I do not know if they are merely mimicking a Mid-Eastern style, or this reflects the personal beliefs of the owners.

But notice the name: Palestino-Libanés (Lebanese Palestinian)

There is a Lebanese aspect to this. Most Lebanese in Mexico are (Maronite) Catholic. However, those Catholics would be more assimilated and Western.

So I cannot say if the owner(s) is/are Muslim Christian; but two Arab ethnicities are involved, Whether by two owners, two styles of food, or one person of two ancestries, I do not know.

What I can say is that is it looks like a classy joint. Arabs tend to have a high station in Latin America. This may be one example.

The Guadalquivir river Spain is the best navigable river in Spain.

The name comes from the Arabic al-wādi al-kabīr (الوادي الكبير), which means The Great River/Valley/Canyon.

Now, think of Guadalajara (in Castile, Spain; and later Mexico) (wādī al-hidjārah), which means “river of stones

Guadalcanal, in Seville Spain comes from an Arabic word,(wādī al-Qanal), meaning “river of refreshment stalls”

The root of all this comes from the Arabic word Wadi, which means intermittant riverbed, or valley.

The Spanish word for river is rio, which is of Indo-European origin; but the root Guada– is how the Spanish pronounced the Arabic wadi.

This term Guada– is now found in Mexico (Guadalajara) and even in the Solomon Islands, where an island (Guadalcanal) was the site of a famous WWII battle. The island was named after a river in Castile, Spain, which was originally named by the Arabs.

There is a recent drive to set up an archive concerning the Lebanese of Mexico. This should be quite interesting.

Anywhere between 1 and 5 million Mexicans have some degree of Lebanese ancestry. Almost all are Christians. They started arriving in the 19th century.

Among some of the more famous are the actress Salma Hayek and the tycoon Carlos Slim.
